Efficient water use and water quality management on golf courses require up-to-date technologies, continuing education, scientific research, and sound management practices by superintendents. Innovations at golf facilities include the use of reclaimed water, sophisticated weather instruments, drought-and salt- resistant grasses, water conservation and water protection practices. Many superintendents also monitor water quality of streams and groundwater in order to protect these natural resources. The Institute and GCSAA support research, water conservation, and sound management practices.

  • Golf course superintendents often develop innovative solutions to environmental issues. The Institute wants to spotlight your environmental efforts in the area of water use and water quality. Share your story - no matter how large or small - so your approach can help others address common environmental concerns and challenges. Use the template to share your story now.
  • Here's a recent aquatic plant water management case study prepared by the Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Foundation.

The Institute needs your photos from the five focus areas to help build a photo library. Share your environmental stewardship efforts with others through photos.

Environmental projects such as wetland and stream restorations; buffer strip development, nonpoint pollution issues and others on your golf course may be available for grants or loans through the US EPA and non-profit organziations.
