Research Grant Program - Tips for success
- Our mission is to support applied agronomic, environmental and regulatory
research conducted by scientists in cooperation with superintendents
to benefit the golf courses they manage. Proposals selected for funding
must be compatible with this mission.
- Superintendents should communicate the problems and issues that need
to be addressed through research to turfgrasss scientists in their state
or region.
- Turfgrass scientists should involve superintendents in developing
the research proposal particularly in the section on rationale/description
of the problem and when developing proposed treatments. Visit the Chapter
Cooperative Research Program's Steps for Proposal Development for
a step-by-step guide to help in this process.
- Funding research conducted on a golf course is a priority of the Research
Committee.
- The letters submitted by Chapters in support of proposed research
projects are carefully reviewed by the Research Committee and are an
important factor in determining funding.
- More than one Chapter can submit a letter in support of a proposed
research project.
- A superintendent who is a Chapter officer must write the letter in
support of the proposed research. The letter should clearly and concisely
state the value and importance of the proposed research to superintendents.
- If the proposal is submitted as a request for funding under the Chapter
Cooperative Research Program the letter must also clearly state the
Chapter’s financial commitment to support the proposed research
for the duration of the project.
- Meet all the stated deadlines and adhere to the guidelines stated
under the Checklist
section of the request for proposals.
