Transforming a Superfund Site
Author(s):  Bruce Borland, ASGCA
Old Works Golf Course is built on the waste from the mining operation which contaimined the soil wil arsenic, lead and copper. Runoff into a nearby creek, erosion, and soil contamination becoming airborne were problems to be addressed. Many government agencies worked with the designer to protect ground water, reuse available materials, and transform a toxic barren scrap of land into a safe and clean recreational environment.
