Advanced Stress Management Strategies for Cool-Season Turfgrasses
Author(s):  Jack D. Fry; Bingru Huang
This seminar will first provide an overview of basic growth characteristics and environmental adaptation of cool-season turfgrasses. We will examine major environmental stresses that cause decline in performance of cool-season turfgrass species and explain physiological reasons behind stress injury in turf. Finally, we will discuss advanced management strategies to prevent stress injury in turf and how to maintain high quality turf when water quality and quantity concerns exist, during hot summer months, and under shaded conditions. In addition, various case studies will be examined and analyzed to develop the best management practices for some common, real-world problems.
