Golf Industry ShowThe Environmental Institute for Golf (The Institute) hosts a variety
of events and activities at the Golf Industry Show each year. 2008 Golf Industry ShowThe 2008 Silent Auction had more than 350 participants registering bids. Preliminary results indicate that The Environmental Institute for Golf received more than $133,400 in bids from the 114 items donated. This includes $12,100 generated from the inaugural live auction. As in past years, a random drawing of all registered bidders was conducted
to award complimentary registration, education and hotel accommodations
in New Orleans for the 2009 GCSAA Education Conference and Golf Industry
Show. This year’s winner was Reuben Wedgeworth, Class A golf course
superintendent at Timberton Golf Club in Hattiesburg, Miss. 2007 Golf Industry ShowThe 2007 Silent Auction, conducted by The Environmental Institute for
Golf (the philanthropic organization of GCSAA), the National Golf Course
Owners Association Foundation, The Club Foundation, The Golf Course Builders
Association of America Foundation and the American Society of Golf Course
Architects, generated more than $165,000. Proceeds support environmental
stewardship programs, including research and education to strengthen the
compatibility of the game of golf with our natural environment, player
development programs, grants and scholarships to advance the club management
industry, and providing young people the opportunity to learn golf and
the life values the game of golf represents. 2006 Golf Industry ShowThe Institute was involved in numerous events and activities at the 2006 Golf Industry Show. Here is a review of Institute activities that took place in Atlanta: Silent Auction
The Golf Industry Show Silent Auction, conducted by The Environmental Institute for Golf, the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) Foundation and the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA), generated $158,000 for environmental stewardship programs, including research and education to strengthen the compatibility of the game of golf with our natural environment and player development programs. In addition, a portion of the auction proceeds will be donated to hurricane relief efforts. A total of 80 companies donated 133 items (view a complete listing of donating companies). In addition, David Grodzicki with Grand Sakwa Management in Farmington Hills, Mich., won an all-expense paid trip to the 2007 GCSAA Education Conference and Golf Industry Show in Anaheim, Calif. His name was chosen from a list of those who participated in the silent auction. Environment and the Game Solution Center The 2006 Golf Industry Show focused on golf course and facility management solutions through Solution Centers on the trade show floor. The Environment and the Game Solution Center was presented in partnership with The Environmental Institute for Golf and the Irrigation Association. A meandering walkthrough stream bank stabilization and wetlands construction display, brought to you by Ecological Solutions, Inc., was the heart of the solution center and was designed to provide attendees with demonstrations on a multitude of solutions including: erosion control, stream bank stabilization, stream restoration, water quality monitoring, wildlife corridors, and wetlands construction. Learn more about this exciting Solution Center. 2005 Golf Industry ShowSilent Auction Orlando proved to be a successful venue for the Silent Auction. With your generosity we raised $162,000. That brings our 9 year grand total to $1,626,235 for support of The Institute programs. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit applied on-course research and educational advancements for golf course superintendents. These programs enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities of the professional superintendent and contribute toward improved playing conditions and increased enjoyment of the game for all involved. The Institute presented the Agronomic Solutions Center in Orlando in February 2005. The Agronomic Solution Center offered education and solutions for environmental issues at golf facilities. A golf course sanctuary was created right on the trade show floor including a pond and buffer zone display. Learn more about the Agronomic Solutions Center. |
