Strategic Planning Session

The Environmental Institute for Golf held its initial Strategic Planning Session with representatives from environmental and golf organizations in July 2003. The purpose of the session was to begin the collaborative work to develop a roadmap for The Institute and identify agreed upon topical focus areas that need to be addressed to fulfill the mission of The Institute, which is to strengthen the compatibility of the game of golf with our natural environment.

As you will read in the Strategic Planning Session outcomes, Water Management was unanimously recommended as the most critical topic to be addressed. In addition to water management, the participants recommended Integrated Plant Management; Wildlife and Habitat Management; Golf Course Siting, Design and Construction; and Energy Conservation and Waste Management as important areas of focus.

In the Strategic Planning Session resource box above are links to the list of organizations invited to the session, the meeting outcomes (including the areas of focus and subcategories identified by participants), a news release announcing the session highlights, the new GCSAA Director of Environmental Programs and a new member to The Institute's Advisory Council. Also included are the links to background information about The Institute.

If you have any questions after reviewing the outcomes and the other links related to The Institute, please contact Teri Harris, Director of Development, at (800) 472-7878, ext. 4465.

The Environmental Institute for Golf is committed to strengthening the compatibility of the game of golf with our natural environment.
