Message from the Chairman – David Pillsbury

David Pillsbury

To my friends in golf —

For those of you who don’t know me or my experience in the golf world, I’ll share a bit of history with you to give you a better understanding for my reasons of eagerly assuming the role as chairman of The Environmental Institute for Golf.  More so, my goal is to provide you a better understanding of why your donations are so important to achieving the mission of The Institute and how it impacts you and the golf course management profession.

I have served in various capacities in the golf industry, including philanthropically.  As president of the PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties, I act as its representative on the board of trustees.  I have also worked for Nike Golf, following a 14-year career with American Golf Corporation.  I currently serve on the Executive Committee of Golf 20/20 and on the board of the National Golf Foundation.  A seat on The Environmental Institute for Golf board of trustees was easy to accept. I, along with my fellow trustees and advisory council members, speak highly of and support  the work of the golf course management profession and the positive environmental efforts that are being made daily.

At the TOUR’s Tournament Players Clubs (TPC) we believe in and embody the environmental practices of our team of superintendents.  We are extremely proud to have been recognized for environmental excellence in the annual GCSAA/Golf Digest Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards.  The TOUR emphatically entrusts that strides are being made by The Institute and as such continues to make a financial commitment to assist in its efforts each year.

The Institute makes every effort to provide the resources necessary to communicate and educate others on the impact golf courses have on a community – economically, recreationally and environmentally.  I am both honored and humbled to represent this organization, the profession and most importantly, to communicate and promote The Institute’s environmental efforts.

I ask that you join me in support of The Institute.

Sincerely,

David Pillsbury
Chairman
