Accomplishments

Scientific and technological advancements have changed golf dramatically over the last 50 years. The golf course management industry through the work of GCSAA’s Scholarship and Research Fund (1955 – 1994), The GCSAA Foundation (1995 – 2002) and now the Environmental Institute for Golf (The Institute) has helped pioneer many advances in the way golf courses are managed and has helped bring environmental stewardship to the preeminent position it has today.

Donor support has allowed The Institute to:

  • Become a highly sought after resource regarding environmental issues - both on and off the course.
  • Enhance our programming and commercial time on The Golf Channel, accelerated our media relations efforts, and increased the number of presentations at industry conferences.
  • Gather and provide data through the Golf Course Environmental Profile to allow superintendents and other facility personnel to become more informed managers, help them operate more efficiently and lead to the development of more value programs and services.
  • Provide funding for 25 current research projects that will provide results to help develop golf course business solutions, best management practices and measurable targets for progress in advancing environmental stewardship on golf courses.
  • Provide an on line resource, EDGE, for the golf course management profession to deliver case studies and best management practices.
  • Fund more than 60 scholarships each year for students pursuing higher education.
  • Develop more than 80 educational programs with an environmental focus.
